Many years ago I did a degree in French with Italian. After graduating I went to live in Italy from which I managed to get deported during the difficult days of the early 1970s! Due to a bank error in my favour I then acquired a large sum of money and followed the hippy trail to Katmandu. The rest of my life has been less dramatic, having been spent mainly as a student and a teacher- of sociology and communication studies - in Higher Education. My academic career was brought to an end through illness. After convalescence in Spain, I subsequently went back to University to take a degree in Hispanic Studies, followed by an MA in Translation Studies, and reinvented myself as a translator from French, Spanish and Portuguese. I also worked as an interpreter for asylum seekers in Sheffield. But academia called once more, and I am now doing a PhD on the Algerian community in Sheffield, while keeping my hand in with translation. My profile is at http://www.proz.com/pro/573990
Chris Warlow chris.warlow@googlemail.com I have just graduated from Cardiff University with a 2.1 BA Joint Honours degree in French and Cultural Criticism. Although I am currently only willing to translate with French, I will be picking up my Spanish this year with the ultimate goal of translating from both languages - possibly with a bit of Welsh on the side if time allows. I am currently also constructing a bilingual food blog (Français-English) which will eventually be found here: http://culinarycoolth.blogspot.com/
